He stepped on a mine somewhere. Was thrown up and hit the ground. No obvious wounds. After this he would wake up in the mornings with swollen feet. It got bad enough he went to the Dr. (Red Cross he said). By the time he got up and dressed and made it over to the Dr. the swelling would be down. They sent him back, saying he was trying to get out of the war. He didn't care much for the Red Cross. When he did get back, he was put into the hospital, Hq. Baxter General Hospital Spokane Washington. The bomb had caused bad internal injuries, that he eventually died from.
